SOURCES & STANDARDS

Clear meanings.
Bring receipts.

Every good rabbit hole has receipts. Here’s where our definitions and registry records come from.

Concept definitions

Our explanations and examples are written for this dictionary. Technical entries link to documentation and standards from Bitcoin, Ethereum and the protocols they describe. Culture and slang entries use firsthand community usage or explanations published by crypto platforms. Each entry gives you a reference to check or explore.

Protocol rules and community language can evolve. Check the linked reference when the exact details matter. The expanded edition began in October 2026; entries show their publication and revision dates.

Identify the asset behind the ticker

Asset records use metadata from the open Trust Wallet assets repository. Each entry links to its source record and, where provided by the registry, its project website or blockchain explorer. The import excludes source records marked abandoned or spam.

New scheduled token profiles also use factual Blockscout explorer metadata: the contract address, network, reported name and ticker, and token standard. Fungible token records retain reported decimal precision; NFT collection records identify the collection contract. Each profile links to its exact onchain explorer record. These are metadata snapshots with original explanations, not copied project descriptions. Source flags, missing metadata, obvious test and promotional names, and previously excluded Trust Wallet identities are screened out; explorer indexing is not an authenticity check.

Historical Solana mint records come from the archived Solana token registry. These profiles identify the mint, its reported name and ticker, and recorded precision. They are clearly labelled historical, retain the pinned registry reference and its date, and make no claim that a project remains active.

Names, tickers, chains, token standards, decimal precision and identifiers are factual registry fields. Our explanatory text describes those fields. Registry membership is not proof of legitimacy, activity, liquidity or a token’s value. A record marked active in a source is not independently verified as active by this site.

The original asset dataset was retrieved in October 2026. New explorer snapshots and historical registry records show their own source dates; a later publication date does not make older metadata current. Registry records do not provide live prices. A token represented on two networks may appear as two separately identified records. Record counts refer to entries, not the number of unique conceptual terms.

Live market charts

Live charts are provided by TradingView. Each chart identifies its trading pair and venue. Quotes can differ between exchanges; USD prices are not an average across all markets. The chart provider controls market updates and availability. Charts are linked only to reviewed asset identities, never matched by ticker alone.

Blockscout token fields describe public blockchain records. We use our own explanatory text and attribute the explorer; its software license is not a license for this dictionary. We do not import its prices, market values, images or promotional descriptions.

The historical Solana token registry is used under its Apache License 2.0. Its license and source notices are retained with the reserve. Solana Labs does not sponsor or endorse this dictionary.

What the numbers mean

Examples, context and community takes

Examples illustrate a meaning or a situation you might recognize from crypto. Dialogue in an example is original, illustrative writing, not a quotation attributed to a real commenter. Market slang expresses sentiment rather than a forecast. Reader perspectives are reviewed and labelled; examples are not transaction instructions or investment recommendations. External project links are references supplied by the linked publisher.
