LEARNING PATHS

Small steps.
Clearer thinking.

You don’t have to learn everything at once. Follow a sequence of connected ideas, at your own pace.

PATH 01 · 6 CONCEPTS

Your first steps in crypto.

Start with the foundations, then build a picture of how ownership and transactions work.

Read a concept to start your path.

  1. 01

    Blockchain

A ledger organized into blocks that reference earlier blocks through cryptographic hashes.

  2. 02

    Bitcoin

A peer-to-peer monetary network whose native asset is bitcoin, commonly abbreviated BTC.

  3. 03

    Wallet

Software or hardware that helps manage blockchain accounts and authorize transactions.

  4. 04

    Private key

Secret cryptographic material used to authorize actions or decrypt data in a public-key system.

  5. 05

    Transaction

A signed or otherwise authorized request to change a blockchain's state.

  6. 06

    Consensus

Agreement among network participants about which blockchain state and history to accept.

PATH 02 · 6 CONCEPTS

Make sense of DeFi.

Follow the concepts behind decentralized exchanges, lending and liquidity.

Read a concept to start your path.

  1. 01

    Smart contract

A program stored on a blockchain that runs under the network's execution rules.

  2. 02

    DeFi

Decentralized finance: financial applications whose operations are substantially implemented through blockchain contracts.

  3. 03

    Decentralized exchange

An exchange system where trade execution or settlement occurs through blockchain-based mechanisms.

  4. 04

    Automated market maker

A trading mechanism that prices swaps using mathematical rules and available liquidity rather than matching individual orders.

  5. 05

    Liquidity pool

A collection of assets held by contracts to support activities such as swapping or lending.

  6. 06

    Impermanent loss

A liquidity position's shortfall relative to holding the originally supplied assets separately, caused by changing relative prices.

Know your keys. Know your risks.

Understand custody and the mechanisms that protect access to your assets.

Read a concept to start your path.

  1. 01

    Private key

Secret cryptographic material used to authorize actions or decrypt data in a public-key system.

  2. 02

    Seed phrase

A sequence of words used by many wallets to encode recovery material from which signing keys are derived.

  3. 03

    Self-custody

Managing the authorization needed to control one's own blockchain assets.

  4. 04

    Hardware wallet

A dedicated device designed to generate, protect and use signing keys without exposing them to a general-purpose computer.

  5. 05

    Token approval

Authorization that lets a specified spender move a token owner's assets under the token contract's rules.

  6. 06

    Phishing

Deception that impersonates a trusted service or person to obtain secrets or harmful authorizations.
