Token
An onchain unit recorded by a protocol or application that can represent value, access or a claim.
In more detail
Token balances and transfer rules come from the relevant protocol or contract. One token might represent access, another a claim on assets, and another have no such backing. Names and tickers are reusable, so identifying the actual network and contract is part of understanding which token someone means.
How you might use it
Your app's contract records the token balance and applies its transfer rules when you send units to another address.
