Bech32
An address encoding with error detection, introduced for native SegWit Bitcoin outputs.
In more detail
A Bech32 address has a readable prefix and a checksum designed to catch typing mistakes. Bitcoin mainnet SegWit version-zero addresses commonly start with bc1q. Later witness versions use Bech32m, a related encoding. Recognizing the prefix is useful, but it doesn't establish who controls the address you're about to use.
How you might use it
A friend sends you a bc1q address. Your wallet checks its format and checksum before preparing the Bitcoin payment.
